Well here we are on the first day of Spring (if you live in Australia that is) and what a glorious day it has been. Beautiful blue sky not a cloud in sight and 25 C with a promise of 27 C tomorrow….bring it on, is all I can say!! Even though I live in Queensland and the weather has been a lot kinder to those further south, I am still looking forward to the warmer weather.
Ironically my project today is using the new Winter Wonderland vellum to celebrate Spring and the launch of the new Holiday Catalogue which became available for purchase today. I was playing around today and wanted to make something other than a card. I was folding and trying different things when I remember a project that I had seen years ago on Dawn Griffiths blog on how to make “sour cream containers!!” Now to an Australian that just does not quite compute, our sour cream comes in a plastic tub. The shape of these “sour cream containers” is more like our “Sunny-Boy”, do you remember those as a kid? You couldn’t wait to rip that icy cold orange flavoured triangle of ice block open…..come on, I know you did 🙂 REMEMBER NOW??????
Okay, so our Sunny-boys have put on a bit of weight compared to the sour cream containers, but you have more of an idea of what I talking about now. So here are the three I made, two Sunny-boys and one flat pack lol, full of milk chocolates!!
This literally takes 1 minute to make when you use the 6 x 6 Winter Wonderland vellum. All you do it add adhesive, (fast fuse or tear and tape adhesive) something that is strong to three of the four sides. Join the side without tape to the opposite side and press together then do the same to the bottom edge. Next fill your treat box with lollies and then seal the top. Make sure the top is sealed 90 degrees to the bottom (see picture below and short video)
I used the long retired crimper to add a crinkled edge to the top and bottom. Decorate however you desire. If you didn’t want to rip open the packet to get to the lollies inside, you could always join the top with a ribbon or peg so it is easier to open…..you choose!
To decorate I used the new Snowflake elements and I covered them with Versamark and then embossed with silver and gold embossing powder and heat-set them twice to give a deeper colour and coverage.
The final snowflake I did with a mix of silver and gold embossing powder. I then rolled up silver and gold thread and adhered that with a glue dot and then added the snowflake using tombow.Double embossing just makes the snowflake “pop”!
This would look amazing done in the new foils as well….next time! Below is a list of all the products I have used. If you don’t have a demonstrator, I would love to be yours!
